Meeting Mental Projector Laura Michelle Wolff
I was connected with Laura Michelle about a book idea (okay, maybe three). A friend had said, “You NEED to talk to Laura Michelle Wolff!” Two minutes into our first chat, I knew why. Every other sentence carried that unmistakable 3/5 signature, learning by living, trying a lot, breaking a few things along the way, and mining the gold. I knew right away that I wanted you to hear her story.
Laura Michelle’s path is definetly curvy: therapist, forensic interviewer with FBI training, artist, pyshic medium, marketing and project manager for Dr. Karen Curry Parker (yes, that Karen—creator of Quantum Human Design), and now ghostwriter, publisher, Quantum Human Design specialist. When she found Quantum Human Design back in 2017, she cried, not because it boxed her in, but because it gave language to why “working harder” wasn’t working. It was permission to stop moving against her mental projector nature.
Soundboarding and play for Projectors
Here’s one of my favorite things Laura Michelle shared in this episode: every Projector stays sane and successful by mastering two things, soundboarding and play. Not as cute ideas, but as regular energy hygiene.
She has receipts. During a launch in 2022, Laura Michelle was at her daughter’s wedding and then on the beach in Savannah for a couple of days. Less “best practices,” more play, and she sold more in that window than during her grind-it-out weeks. Tha’s been my experience, as well. Play isn’t a reward after the work; it’s the switch that turns our magnetism back on.
Environmental authority in practice (for Mental Projectors)
We went deep on Environmental Authority, the (rare) authority of Mental Projectors. It isn’t actually an “inner authority.” It’s an outer, environmental process. Hearing Laura Michelle describe it in real life is one of the gems of this conversation. She externalizes her process in the right space, ideally with someone who can hold a clean mirror, but sometimes with a voice memo, a cat, or even the trees, until her body can hear what’s true and what’s not. The wrong space steers. The right space reflects. And when fear-talk starts spiraling, she can literally hear the falseness in her own words and feel it in her body (for her, it lands in the ears/upper body). That’s the tell.
Soundboarding tips to support Projectors
If you’ve listened to me for more than ten minutes, you’ve probably heard me verbally process. Soundboarding isn’t optional for Projectors, it’s part of how we find our truth. Even if you’re not a Projector, this will help you love the Projectors in your life better and be a safer soundboard:
• Hold a neutral face and don’t steer.
• Reflect back exact words; resist fixing or framing.
• Notice amplification in your open centers as data, not direction.
• Ask, “Do you want silence, reflection, or questions?”—then honor it.
Environmental authority, pivot energy, and the Four Ways
We also talk about her Incarnation Cross, the Right Angle Cross of the Four Ways. Think pivot energy. People with this cross tend to show up when a change of direction is ripening. Don’t be surprised if something in you shifts by the end of the episode.
Throat, voice, and Designed to Captivate
Laura Michelle’s Throat is defined by the 43–23 Channel of Structuring, (known as the Genius-to-Freak), her new book, Designed to Captivate, goes straight to the voice: what your throat naturally wants to say versus what conditioning taught you to say. If you’ve been speaking with someone else’s voice in your throat, this conversation will help you pivot and hear your own again.
If any of this resonates, press play on Episode 85 and let the right space reflect truth back to you.
