What Alex Negrete’s Story Reveals About Human Design Projector SuccessÂ
In Episode 87 of Real Human Design Stories, I sat down with Alex Negrete, a 2/4 Self-Projected Projector with the Right Angle Cross of the Sphinx 2, and the conversation landed in that sweet spot I love, where Human Design stays practical, but still opens into something deeply soulful.
Alex has been in his Human Design experiment for a long time. What stood out to me is how clearly he’s embraced what matters most without getting swallowed by the endless details. He uses what resonates. He trusts Strategy and inner authority. He lets the rest be background noise. And honestly, that’s one of the clearest examples of real Human Design maturity I’ve seen. Not making the system your whole identity, but letting it support your actual life.

Human Design Projector Success: when the “right” life doesn’t fit
Alex is a fascinating example of Human Design Projector success because his early life looked like success by almost every external standard: visibility, momentum, money, recognition. He was part of the earliest wave of digital creators, and it was all happening fast.
And then his body delivered a hard stop. At 21, Alex was diagnosed with testicular cancer.
We talk about how that moment became a reset, and how it set him on a longer arc of deconditioning, course-corrections, and eventually a clearer sense of direction. This isn’t a tidy “everything happens for a reason” story. It’s a real look at what it feels like when life pulls the old map out of your hands and the only way forward is inward.
Projector success is a theme in Human Design, but if that leaves you feeling drained, unseen, or like you’re living success on someone else’s terms, this part of the episode is going to land.
When your Human Design Incarnation Cross is literally a compass
One reason this episode feels so coherent is because Alex’s Human Design Incarnation Cross is all about direction.
The Right Angle Cross of the Sphinx is often experienced as a life shaped by searching, course-corrections, and then clarity that comes from inner alignment. It’s less about telling people what to do and more about becoming a living compass, guiding through reflection, memory, and pattern recognition. In Alex, you can feel that “compass” quality, especially when he talks about the long arc of his story and how it shaped the work he does now.
And I’ll say this clearly: the magic isn’t just knowing your incarnation cross. It’s aligning with it. It’s living it. Letting it unfold through the Human Design experiment instead of trying to force it into a brand or a job title.
If you’re new to understanding your own Incarnation Cross, this is one of the pieces I explain in a simple, grounded way in my free guide Meet Your Chart (the introductory edition of The Ultimate Human Design Guide to Radical Self-Trust). You can download yours for free here.
Self-Projected Projector inner authority: speaking your truth
One of my favorite moments in the episode is when Alex describes learning he was a Self-Projected Projector as permission. Like something in him finally got to relax.Â
Self-Projected Projector inner authority only applies to a very small percentage of Projectors. By definition, it means you have a lot of openness, essentially everything below the Identity (G) Center is open, and the Identity Center connects to the Throat. Translation in real-life language: your direction comes through the voice. You hear yourself and you recognize your truth in it.
We talk about Human Design inner authority more broadly here too, because this is such a clean example of how the experiment is meant to be lived, not performed. Not mental certainty. Not forcing clarity. Speaking, listening, and letting the Self reveal the next step.
We also connect this to openness, sensitivity, and energetic boundaries: how taking in and amplifying energy can feel like empathy until it becomes exhaustion, and how learning what’s yours (and what isn’t) can change everything.
The mini “reading” that happened naturally
Toward the end of our conversation, I found myself doing what I so often do, looking at someone’s chart while listening to their story and reflecting back what I’m seeing, in that “your chart is showing the path you’ve already been living” way.
Alex messaged me afterward to say how helpful that was, and I loved that. It reminded me how often Human Design works best when it’s held lightly, in the moment, in real life. I can’t help but mentor. It’s what I love more than anything, especially when someone is in that tender place of trying to trust what they already know.
If you’re new to your experiment, or you’re at a point where you want to take a deeper look at your chart with someone who can reflect it back in a grounded way, you’ll find my mentorship options here.
What is the magnetic monopole in Human Design?
This episode also includes one of my favorite kinds of questions, the ones that bridge the mechanics and the mystery.
We touch on the Human Design magnetic monopole, and we ask a question: What is the magnetic monopole in Human Design, and is it connected to the soul?Â
We don’t try to force a final answer. We explore it the way the Human Design experiment invites us to explore everything: through lived experience, contemplation, and what resonates as truth.
If you’re the kind of person who loves this layer, especially the way karma and attraction can show up through chart mechanics, you’ll love my free download of my guide to Karmic Attraction. I’ll link it here.
The politics teaser, and the conversation we didn’t even get to
Here’s the funny part. I introduced Alex with a teaser about how he’s considering getting into politics, and then we talked about so many rich things that I never even asked him about it.
So we did what two Projectors often do. We kept talking.
Alex and I recorded an Instagram Live as a continuation of this conversation, and yes, we said it would be 20 minutes, and yes, it pretty much doubled. If you want the continuation, you can watch it here.
In that follow-up, we did talk about politics, and we also talked about why protecting your energy matters if you still want to show up as a lighthouse. Or in my language, a disco ball. We brought Gate 55 back in there too, and how Radical Self-Trust becomes a practice when fear is loud and certainty is not available.

One last reflection
What I love most about Alex’s story is that it’s not “Human Design saved me.” It’s a story of a human who lived through a major interruption, followed the course-corrections, and learned to trust what is true.
He’s proof that you can be Human Design informed without making the system your entire identity. You can use what resonates. You can trust your Strategy and inner authority. You can let the experiment be your anchor, not your obsession.
And if you’re in a season where the old map isn’t working anymore, Episode 87 is a reminder that sometimes that’s not failure.
Sometimes it’s direction.
